Temporary Autonomous Zones

The Temporary Autonomous Sarai is an attempt to give form to an ethic of improvisation, conversation and hospitality through an impermanent structure that can contain itself as it moves from place to place.

In this spatial configuration – all visitors are encouraged to be playful with the presences and traces of others.

“The myth of “Tropicality’ is much more than parrots and banana trees: it is the consciousness of not being conditioned by established structures, hence highly revolutionary in its entirety. Any conformity, be it intellectual, social, or existential, is contrary to its principal idea.”
Hélio Oiticica, Tropicalia, March 4, 1968
